In 2014, the Secretariat for NCD Child was transitioned from CLAN to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). The coalition continues to build momentum as the Post-2015 Health Agenda approaches by ensuring youth voices are actively engaged in NCD prevention and treatment. Jonathan Klein, MD, MPH, FAAP
NCD Child Executive Director, Dr. Jonathan D. Klein, is Associate Executive Director of the American Academy of Pediatrics and founding Director of the AAP Julius B. Richmond Center, a national center of excellence dedicated to eliminating children’s exposure to tobacco and secondhand smoke. He also chairs the International Pediatric Association Technical Advisory Group on NCDs. Dr. Klein is an expert in adolescent medicine and child and adolescent health services research. His research addresses tobacco prevention and control, access and quality of care, obesity screening in primary care, and other child and adolescent preventive services.
Terrell Carter, MHS
Ms. Carter manages the NCD Child Governing Council and finances. She has direct oversight of the coalition’s programmatic activities.
Kiran Patel, MPH
Ms. Patel manages NCD Child’s social media and communication activities. She is also responsible for sustained youth outreach and engagement.
Jennifer Rhodes, MPH
Ms. Rhodes coordinates logistics for Council meetings and advocacy events.
